Dinner plates are the large, flat plates used for the main course – at LIVINGforme, you will find them in series such as Porcelino White, Marmoris, Spiró, Kimo, Basil, Viola, or Dutch Rose Organic. In addition, there is a charger plate from the Cycle series, a presentation plate from Spiró, and oval serving platters from Dutch Rose Organic in 34 × 23 and 40 × 28 cm. Because the dinner plate is the one you reach for most often, it is worth taking a closer look at the size and glaze.
Buying dinner plates: What matters
Diameter: Classic dinner plates measure approx. 26–28 cm. Models around 25 cm make portions look more generous, while larger ones of 28 cm or more provide space for elaborately arranged dishes.
Color and food: White plates make colorful dishes shine, while marbled or dark glazes showcase light-colored foods like pasta, fish, or risotto.
Preheating plates: Warm main courses stay hot longer if you preheat the plates at about 50–60 °C in the oven or in a warming drawer. Only use plates that are indicated as oven-safe on the product page for this purpose.
Glaze and cutlery: On matte and reactive glazes, knives can leave gray marks. This is usually metal abrasion from the cutlery and not a scratch in the glaze.
