What types of mirrors are available?

Buying a mirror: What to look for

Hanging height: The center of the mirror should be roughly at eye level, around 150–160 cm above the floor.
Above furniture: A mirror looks balanced above a sideboard or console when it is about two-thirds the width of the furniture and starts 20–30 cm above the surface.
Full-length mirrors: To see your whole body, the mirror should be at least half as tall as you are; a height of 160–180 cm is a safe bet.
Placement: Placed beside or opposite a window, a mirror distributes daylight around the room; in a narrow hallway, it makes the space look wider.
Mounting: Large mirrors are heavy. Use wall plugs and hooks suitable for the weight and wall type, and secure leaning mirrors so they cannot slip.

Materials & care

Clean mirror glass without streaks using a microfiber cloth and a little water or mild glass cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth rather than directly onto the mirror to prevent moisture from seeping into the frame and edges. Wipe wooden frames with a barely damp cloth, metal frames with a dry, soft cloth, and dust teddy-fabric or rattan frames with a soft brush.
