Parasols provide shade over garden tables, lounge areas, and loungers: as cantilever parasols with a side mast, as large parasols with a span of around 3 m, or as small clamp-on parasols attached directly to your lounger. You can find models from Living Nordic and Life Outdoor Living.
What types of parasols are available?
Cantilever parasols: The mast is positioned to the side, leaving the area underneath unobstructed. The Palermo from Life Outdoor Living can be double-tilted and rotated 360°, the Ibiza is a compact cantilever parasol with a granite base, and the Baza from Living Nordic measures 295 × 295 cm.
Large parasols: Austin (Ø 300 cm, tiltable) and Orlando (300 × 300 cm) from Living Nordic as well as the Jasmijn from Life Outdoor Living provide shade for an entire dining set. With the Jasmijn, you can freely combine frame and canopy colors.
Smaller parasols: The Martos with a knitted cotton canopy has a diameter of 250 cm and also fits on a balcony. A flexible clamp-on parasol is attached directly to a lounger or reclining chair.
Parasol base: The Arezzo cantilever parasol base, made of 90 kg of granite, has integrated wheels and supports cantilever parasols up to 350 cm in diameter.
Buying a parasol: What to look out for
Size: The parasol should be about 1 m larger than the area it is meant to shade. For a 2 m long table, you therefore need at least 3 m in diameter or edge length.
Design: A cantilever parasol is practical for lounge areas and loungers because there is no mast in the way. A center-pole parasol is more compact and fits well on a balcony or in a table with a parasol hole.
Parasol stand: The larger the parasol, the heavier the stand must be; cantilever parasols require significantly more weight than center-pole parasols. Follow the recommendation on the product page.
Canopy: Fabrics such as Spuncrylic or Comforma are colorfast as well as water and dirt-repellent. Cotton creates a cozy feel, but should be allowed to dry thoroughly after rain.
Wind: Close the parasol in windy conditions and whenever you are not using it.
Material & Care
Let the canopy dry while open after rain before closing and packing the parasol, otherwise mold stains may form. Remove dirt with clean water and a mild detergent. Store the parasol in a dry, protected place over the winter; you can find a suitable protective cover in the outdoor accessories section.
