Soup and pasta plates are deep plates and bowls for anything with sauce or broth – from tomato soup and ramen to spaghetti and risotto. Deep plate, pasta plate, or bowl?

Pasta plates: Deeper than a dinner plate and usually with a wide rim. You can easily twirl your spaghetti on the rim, while the well keeps the sauce contained.
Soup plates and soup bowls: For soup as a main course, plan for about 300–400 ml per serving; for an appetizer, around 200–250 ml is sufficient.
Ramen and Pho: For noodle soups with toppings, you need more volume than for a clear broth – here, deep soup bowls with a capacity of 700 ml or more are ideal to accommodate the noodles, egg, and vegetables.
Table setting: Deep plates are classically placed on top of the dinner or charger plate, with the soup spoon positioned to the right of the knife.
