Finding the right dessert plate

Size: Dessert plates usually measure 19–22 cm. Even smaller bread or appetizer plates are suitable for butter, tapas, or a single piece of pastry.
More than dessert: Feel free to plan for two small plates per person—one for breakfast, one for an appetizer or cake. This way, you won't have to wash dishes while entertaining guests.
Mixing series: Small plates are the easiest entry point for mixing and matching. A colored glazed dessert plate on a plain dinner plate adds variety without having to replace the entire set.
Coffee table: Per guest, you will need a dessert plate, a cup with a saucer, and a cake fork. For cakes with cream, plates with a slightly raised rim are practical.
