Pendant lights hang from the ceiling by a cable, chain, or rod, bringing light exactly where you eat, cook, and talk: over the dining table, kitchen island, or seating area. The largest part of the selection is provided by Frandsen with classics such as Ball, FM 1954, Koi, and Benjamin, along with Lucide with models like Torben, Sytze, and Gipsy, as well as Living Nordic with linen, glass, and steel shades.

What types of pendant lights are available?

Metal shades such as Ball or FM 1954 by Frandsen focus the light downwards. Both series are available in several sizes, from approximately 12 to 41 cm in diameter.
Glass lights such as Grace with smoked or bronze glass or Ball Glass diffuse the light softly into the room.
Beam pendant lights such as Ball Track distribute multiple light points over a long table.
Large shades such as Torben with a 48 cm or Benjamin with a 46 cm diameter fill high rooms and wide tables.
Fabric shades made of linen or in a silk look, such as Watton and Coventry by Living Nordic, provide soft light for living rooms and bedrooms.
Without a ceiling outlet, floor lamps, table lamps, or wall lights can help.

Buying pendant lights: What you should look for

Dining table: The bottom edge of the lamp should hang 60–75 cm above the tabletop. This way, the light will not glare and you can see the person opposite you. You can find matching tables in our dining tables section.
Size relative to the table: Leave at least 15 cm of space all around between the edge of the shade and the edge of the table. For a 90 cm wide table, the shade should therefore be no wider than 60 cm.
Kitchen island: Here, the bottom edge hangs about 65–80 cm above the countertop—a bit higher than over the dining table because you are usually standing.
Multiple lights: Maintain a gap of at least one lamp diameter between two shades. Over long tables and islands, two or three smaller lights often look more balanced than one large shade.
Passageways: In hallways, stairwells, or over walkways, ensure there is at least 200 cm of headroom beneath the light.
Cable length: For older buildings with ceilings higher than 3 m, check the product page to see if the pendant length is sufficient.

Material & Care

Metal shades direct light downwards, while glass diffuses it: clear glass looks sparkling, smoked or bronze glass muted. Linen and silk-look materials provide glare-free light. Remove dust from the light when it is switched off and cooled down using a soft, dry cloth; wipe glass shades with a damp cloth. Gently vacuum fabric shades using the upholstery nozzle.
