Wall Paint - Wine Dark No. 308

About Wine Dark No. 308

Wine Dark is a dark blue tone as fascinating as its name: a term that has been widely analyzed, Homer once used it to describe the sea. This midnight sky color is the darkest Farrow & Ball blue. In low light, Wine Dark appears even darker and almost velvety, making it particularly glamorous by candlelight. Why not try using it in a dining room or a cozy living room?

Color effect & light

Wine Dark gives rooms clarity and depth, ranging from a fresh coastal blue to an elegant evening mood. In smaller rooms or those with little daylight, it intentionally creates an enveloping, intimate character. Combined with light textiles and warm lighting, it creates a real wow effect.

Combine like a pro

The official complementary white for Wine Dark is Ammonite, ideal for ceilings, trim, and adjacent surfaces. Color schemes recommended by Farrow & Ball: Ammonite & Wevet · Cornforth White & Worsted · Railings & Lulworth Blue.

The right primer

For optimal coverage and durability, Farrow & Ball recommends the coordinated primer for use under Wine Dark: Primer & Undercoat Dark Tones.
