Wall paint - Cat's Paw No. 240

Cat's Paw No. 240 – Colour Description

This warm neutral is inspired by something other than you might think! Used as a dark accent for String or Cord, Cat's Paw refers not to a yellowish cat's paw, but to an intricate sailor's knot of the same name. It is intense, grounding, and reveals surprisingly blue undertones in north-facing rooms.

A shade from the Farrow & Ball Archive

Cat's Paw is one of Farrow & Ball's archive colours: no longer in the current colour card, but still available in the original quality. Each tin is mixed to order. Due to the high pigmentation, the shade changes with the daylight – softer in the morning, deeper in the evening.

Combine like the pros

The official complementary white for Cat's Paw is Matchstick – ideal for ceilings, skirting boards, and adjacent areas. Colour schemes recommended by Farrow & Ball: Savage Ground & Etruscan Red · White Tie & New White · Matchstick & String · Tanner's Brown & Pitch Black.

The right primer

For optimal coverage and durability, Farrow & Ball recommends the coordinated primer under Cat's Paw: Primer & Undercoat – Mid Tones.
