The Plastic Chairs by Charles & Ray Eames
Producing the best quality for a wide range of people at affordable prices - that was the self-proclaimed goal of design icons Charles & Ray Eames. The revolutionary Plastic Chair came closer to this goal than almost any other product. After previous experiments with other materials, the Eames discovered polyester resin, thus creating the basis for the industrial production of today's Eames Plastic Chairs. In the 1950s, the Eames participated in the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. With their simple seat shell and the plastic shell with armrests, the designers made their way into furniture history with the first chair made of plastic.
Pioneers of Versatility
With their Plastic Chairs, the Eames achieved another historical milestone - they founded the era of the multifunctional chair, which can be equipped with various bases depending on the application and taste. To this day, Eames chairs, whose production is in the hands of Vitra, have remained true to this multifunctionality. The Plastic Chairs are available with and without armrests, as well as with bases made of wood (maple, ash), metal (steel wire), or even as a rocking chair with wooden runners in the RAR version. The powder-coated steel wire variant is even suitable for outdoor use. The seat shells are available in a variety of colors - from the classics in black or white to moss green, oxide red, and mustard yellow, as well as various shades of blue such as ocean or navy blue. At LIVINGforme.de, we present all color variations and offer them for purchase-
New Sizes, New Heights, New Ergonomics
