Meditation Lagoon Beach Rug

Inspired by the Rorschach test, in a warm beach beige with flowing inkblot shapes.

Is the rug washable and suitable for outdoor use?

The rug can be machine-washed at 30 °C, and the colors will remain vibrant for a long time. Small sizes fit in a home washing machine; it is best to wash large rugs in a commercial-sized machine. It is just as suitable for the living room as it is for the patio, balcony, or conservatory and is compatible with underfloor heating. The back has a non-slip coating. In high-traffic areas, we recommend an additional anti-slip underlay.

How thick is the rug?

It is only 3 mm thick. The rug is flat-woven like a kilim and has no pile. This allows it to lie flush under doors and furniture, accumulate less dust, and be folded for transport or storage. If you are looking for a thick, soft high-pile rug, this is not the one for you. In return, you get a clean, easy-care surface.

What is the rug made of?

The rug is made from a single material: polyester, 70% of which is recycled PET (rPET). The recycled content increases every year (20% in 2023, 40% in 2025, 70% in 2026), with a goal of 100%. Because no material blends are used, the rug is fully recyclable at the end of its life. The weaving technique was developed and patented by Louis De Poortere in their own R&D department in Mouscron.

What happens to the rug when it has reached the end of its life?

Once the rug has reached the end of its life, scan the QR code on the back and Louis De Poortere will collect it free of charge. Rugs in good condition are resold, and all others are processed into new polyester yarn.

Who makes the rug?

Louis De Poortere is a fourth-generation Belgian family business that has been weaving rugs since 1929. Every rug is created in their own production facility in Belgium.
