Fading World Medallion Blue Night Rug

A classic medallion pattern, reinterpreted. The central medallion lies within a deliberately patinated frame, the colors are intentionally faded. This creates a vintage look without the rug actually being old.

Is the rug washable and suitable for outdoor use?

The rug can be machine-washed at 30°C (86°F), and the colors will remain vibrant for a long time. Small sizes fit in a home washing machine; it is best to wash large rugs in a commercial-sized machine. It looks just as good in the living room as it does on a patio, balcony, or in a conservatory, and is suitable for use with underfloor heating. The backing has a non-slip coating. In high-traffic areas, we recommend an additional anti-slip underlay.

How thick is the rug?

It is only 3 mm thick. The rug is flat-woven like a kilim and has no pile. This allows it to lie flush under doors and furniture, it collects very little dust, and it can be folded for transport or storage. Those looking for a thick, soft high-pile rug will not find it here. In return, you get a clean, low-maintenance surface.

What is the rug made of?

The rug is made from a single material: polyester, 70% of which is recycled PET (rPET). The recycled content increases every year (20% in 2023, 40% in 2025, 70% in 2026), with the goal being 100%. Because no material mix is used, the rug can be fully recycled at the end of its life. The weaving technique was developed and patented by Louis De Poortere in their own R&D department in Mouscron.

What happens to the rug when it has reached the end of its life?

When the rug has reached the end of its life, you scan the QR code on the back, and Louis De Poortere will pick it up free of charge. Well-preserved rugs are resold, while all others are processed into new polyester yarn.

Who manufactures the rug?

Louis De Poortere is a fourth-generation Belgian family business that has been weaving rugs since 1929. Every rug is created in their own production facility in Belgium.
