Wine glasses play a key role in how a wine's aromas unfold – which is why it is worth distinguishing between red and white wine glasses. Which wine glass for which wine?

Red wine glass: bulbous, with a large opening – this allows the wine more oxygen so that bold aromas can unfold.
White wine glass: slimmer and smaller, with a narrower opening to keep the wine cool and concentrate fresh, delicate aromas.
Pouring correctly: Fill the glass only up to the widest part of the bowl. This leaves room for swirling, and the aromas collect in the empty space of the bowl above.
Hold by the stem: A stemmed glass prevents your hand from warming the wine – important especially for white wine. Stemless bistro glasses, on the other hand, are more robust and uncomplicated for everyday use.
