Counter stool or bar stool? How to plan correctly

Measure the countertop first: Counter stools with a lower seat height belong at a standard kitchen counter of around 90 cm, while higher bar stools are for bar tables starting at approximately 105 cm.
Width per stool: Plan for about 55–60 cm of counter length per seat; more for models with armrests or swivel seats.
Legroom: The countertop should have an overhang of at least 25 cm on the seating side; 30 cm or more is more comfortable.
Footrest and backrest: A footrest relieves the legs, while a backrest makes long conversations comfortable; low backrests keep the island looking open. Slim models can be pushed completely under the overhang to keep walkways clear.
